LATEST NEWS
We showcased some of our new 2011 repertoire at our concert in Petersfield on Match 5th.
The concert was a fantastic success, raising over £600 for the Rosemary Foundation.
Ernie Swinburn, a professional photographer was there and captured some fine photos…

Early in March we made another Long Service Award – read more in our Long Service page.

Other news – we’re delighted to welcome another new member, who will be playing in our later concerts this season. We’re delighted that we’re continuing to attract fine local talent.

WHAT’S COMING UP?
One of our largest concerts for a long time is just 2 weeks away, on May 21st, at Titchfield, in SE Hampshire.
It’s in aid of two good causes…
* Friends of St Peter’s, who look after the preservation of our venue that night – St Peter’s Church just off the main square
* Titchfield Bonfire Boys – who fund-raise for the Titchfield Carnival.

REPERTOIRE
Our Musical Director keeps telling us how hard it is to find new pieces that are even better than our existing repertoire, but I think it’s still happening. In addition to the new piece (of which you can hear a snippet on YouTube) we’re currently working up one of our most ambitious pieces ever, and we hope to have that ready for our concert on Friday June 24th in Portsmouth – more nearer the time.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL GUITARISTS
Our continuing series of concerts in aid of local charities has already raised over £50,000; our commitment to maintaining regular concerts in spite of, or perhaps because of, the recession means that we can offer something for local players that isn’t on offer anywhere else locally – a chance to join a group that plays for the general public, instead of just meeting to play for each other. We meet fortnightly in term-time and our rehearsals are always a mix of hard work and laughter. If you play classical guitar at Grade 5 and above, visit our “join us” page on the website and read more about joining hago.

If you play but not so fluently, our Musical Director offers a “mini-hago” – a much more informal chance to play ensemble music. Read more on the Guitar Workshop Website – it’s informal and fun, and with absolutely no pressure.
