LATEST NEWS
Well, summer’s arrived. We think!

Our new team is settling in well – our latest recruits are jolly fine players and it’s strengthened our sound a lot.
And (as we mentioned last time), having said goodbye to Tracy, we ended up with a bass guitar and no player.
Such is the clever nature of guitar orchestra instruments that it’s easy to pick up a bass and be an expert on it. Which is how we’ve come to replace one bass player with six players – we take it in turn.
Indeed we now have a second bass guitar too, giving us an even rounder, deeper sound.

Our first concert in the summer took place last weekend at Bedales School, near Petersfield, in a 320-seater purpose built theatre. The acoustics were so great than one person asked if we were wearing radio mics!
The concert raised £529 for FOSS, and there is a photo in our 2010 gallery…
Also in our 2010 gallery there are photos of another pair of “long service awards” – our Musical Director’s personal Thank You to those who clock up 200 rehearsals!
So that’s a presentation for 100 rehearsals last term, and a presentation for 200 rehearsals this term!

WHAT’S COMING UP?
On June 17th we play the second half of a concert in Waterlooville, near Portsmouth – part of the Waterlooville Music Festival and our third appearance by popular demand.

On June 26th we play in the Portsmouth Festivities, with our guests Cambridge Guitar Orchestra, down near Gunwharf Quays.
