世界気象機関（せかいきしょうきかん、英: World Meteorological Organization; WMO、仏: Organisation Météorologique Mondiale; OMM）は、国際連合の専門機関の一つで、気象事業の国際的な標準化と改善および調整、並びに各加盟国・地域間における気象情報・資料の効率的な交換の奨励を主な業務としている。本部はスイスのジュネーヴにあり、国連開発グループ（UNDG）の一員である。世界気象デー / 1950年3月23日に世界気象機関条約が発効されたことを記念して、発足から10周年を迎えた1960年に毎年3月23日を世界気象デー（World Meteorological Day）と定めた。世界気象デーは国際デーの一つであり、毎年同日には気象知識の普及や国際的な気象業務への理解を促すキャンペーンを実施している。（世界気象機関 – Wikipedia）

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is an intergovernmental organization with a membership of 191 Member States and Territories. It originated from the International Meteorological Organization (IMO), which was founded in 1873. Established by the ratification of the WMO Convention on 23 March 1950, WMO became the specialised agency of the United Nations for meteorology (weather and climate), operational hydrology and related geophysical sciences a year later. Its current Secretary-General is Petteri Taalas and the President of the World Meteorological Congress, its supreme body, is David Grimes. The Organization is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The date of the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization in 23 March 1950 has been named World Meteorological Day. This organization announces a slogan for World Meteorology Day every year, and this day is celebrated in all member countries. World Meteorological Day is celebrated every year on 23 March to commemorate the entry into force in 1950 of the convention that created the World Meteorological Organization. The day also highlights the contribution that National Meteorological and Hydrological Services make to the safety and well-being of society.
