We’ve not sent many newsletters lately but a lot has changed over the summer and we want to tell you about it. We’ve concerts to celebrate, we’ve said goodbye to two players, and we’ve got some really rather special concerts coming up. Read on!　

100th CONCERT　
Just before we broke for the summer, we played our 100th concert, with special guests Cambridge Guitar Orchestra. That’s right – since our formation in 1999, we’ve played 100 concerts and raised £55,000 for good causes across the South of England.

WHAT’S COMING UP?　
Saturday September 22nd
We’re heading west in 3 weeks’ time to return to Hythe on the edge of the New Forest. We’re back by popular demand!　
At the time of writing, the Church’s own website is off-air because of problems, but we have all the details you need right here.
Tickets in advance are £8 – you will find booking details and directions to the venue on our concerts page.
Alternatively, if you’re undecided, you can come on the door.　

Saturday October 13th
Havant Rotary Club are hosts as we play a concert for their chosen charity “Canine Partners” which helps with the training and provision of assistance dogs for people with a wide range of disabilities. Following the very positive and inspiring coverage of the Paralympics on TV right now, this couldn’t have been a more perfect choice of charity. And it’s special for hago too, because the concert is in Bedhampton, just a mile from our very first concert back in 1999.
Tickets in advance are £7.50 and again you will find booking details and directions to the venue on our concerts page.　
Alternatively, if you’re undecided, you can come on the door.　

Friday October 26th
We’re playing in a charity evening at the wonderful venue of the King’s Theatre, Southsea, one of the south’s finest theatre venues.
Tickets in advance are £10 and £12 and again you will find booking details and directions to the venue on our concerts page.

We’ve already mentioned that we’ve added more videos taken at our 100th concert. Visit our YouTube channel to see them and hear three of our new pieces : When the Guitar Sings, Woman, and the exhilarating Danzon No 2.　

REPERTOIRE　
The Summer is always a time for new music, and we’re meeting next week to try out a souped-up version of one of our favourites and a piece that, if it works as it should, will see us braving some keys that most guitarists would quake about playing in. But not hago!　

OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL GUITARISTS　
We always welcome enquiries from guitarists who are Grade 5 or above and who want to work as part of a team of great people with a wonderful sense of humour. We have a page on our website that explains more.

If you play but not so fluently, our Musical Director offers a “mini-hago” – a much more informal chance to play ensemble music. Read more on the Guitar Workshop Website – it’s informal and fun, and with absolutely no pressure.

And if you play but want lessons or you want to learn how to play guitar, our MD has his own teaching practice. It’s pretty full too, but do enquire via his teaching website.
